Dementia - Learn the Language

Target Staff: For workers who support people with dementia in residential and nursing services.
Aim: A one day session that introduces workers to person centred communication methods that help improve understanding and communication with people who have a dementia.This training is provided by Dementia Care Matters.
Content: Learn new communication skills to support interaction with people who have dementia; Grasp how to become an interpreter; Practice finding the meaning behind words; Gain an understanding that people living with dementia will increasingly communicate their feelings through language that is not always literal; Create real outcomes for CQC and commissioners
A free one day training session for identified key staff in a residential or nursing home setting who have a contract with Staffordshire County Council.
There are 20 places at each venue below. Time 09.30 am – 4.30 pm. Please note that lunch is NOT provided.
Venue: Sandyford Community Fire Station, Stoke on Trent
