Dying with Dignity

Target Staff: For managers, nurses and care workers supporting End of Life care in residential and nursing services.

Aim: TPrinciples of palliative care; To understand the End of Life care strategy (2008); To understand guidelines around resuscitation; Communication skills and managing sensitive conversations; Explore cultural diversity in palliative care and religious aspects of death & dying; Awareness of the services available & roles of the multi-disciplinary team; Best care in the last 24hrs and what constitutes a ‘good death’; Personalisation and promotion of dignity at the end of a persons life; To understand the bereavement process for the family; Key responsibilities linked to Outcome 4 of CQC Essential standards of quality & safety

A free one day

training session for identified key staff in a residential or nursing home setting who have a contract with Staffordshire County Council.

There are 20 places at each venue below.  Time 09.00am – 4.00pm.  Please note that lunch is NOT provided.
