Welcome to CareMatch, a web based recruitment site, funded through Staffordshire County Council, which supports job seekers seeking employment in the Social Care and Health Sector and employers seeking staff in the Sector. The CareMatch service works to support the agenda of the sector skills council - Skills for Care.
CareMatch is here for YOU and links people with jobs in a simple, efficient way that is FREE to those seeking work and those advertising job vacancies in the Staffordshire area.

Introduction to the Care Certificate (New): Inductions for care workers are changing!
Two sessions around the new Care certificate, working in partnership with the Grey Matter Group and Skills for Care. These two sessions will be available around the county to any social care service. It is aimed at staff in a supervisory/managerial position to aid them in supervisions and inducting new staff. This is a continuation from the classic common induction standards.

Care Act Training Sessions (NEW)
- The key facts about Adult Safeguarding with regard to the Care Act 2014
- Implementation of the Act and subsequent changes to the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Inter-agency Adult Protection Procedures
Infection Control Training: Regular training sessions for homes are provided around the county by the Partnership Trust's Infection Control nurses. The sessions are free to homes. NEW There are also Dom care specific sessions which have a nominal charge of £5 per person.

WHERE ARE YOU ON THE IT SKILLS PATHWAY? Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft OneNote
The IT Skills Pathway covers the full range of competencies for users of IT, from basic through to advanced levels. It has been developed in partnership with Health and Social care organisations to provide an officially recognised route of learning and certification for the whole workforce.To get access to the learning send an email contact for each staff member and we will send them a Delegate ID plus link to their learning module.

Adult Protection Awareness Training (on-line)
E-learning licences are available for an on-line training session provided by Staffordshire CC. Licenses are allocated, on a quarterly basis, to individuals and allow them 12 weeks to complete a 2hr session.

Safe Guarding for Provider Managers: Half day workshop provides managers with the opportunity to discuss the safeguarding challenges within their care environment. Please note: We can only allocate 3 places per establishment per event.
Mental Capacity Act (MCA) & Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS) Training: Half day sessions provided in venues around the county by Staffordshire CC Safeguarding Team trainers. Please note: We can only allocate 3 places per establishment per event.
Assessing Capacity & Making Best Interest Decisions: Half day sessions that provides revision about the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and increase knowledge that support effective practice in assessing capacity and making best interest decisions.
Dignity Champions Network: Staffordshire host a dignity champions network three times a year, including annual dignity awards to outstanding people and organisations promoting best practise. The network focusses on sharing best practise, mutual peer support and making links plus training and mentoring opportunities.
Scils web-site (training): Staffordshire CC has subscribed to this web-site to allow care services in Staffordshire to access (free of charge) on-line courses and to download short course training materials on a number of topics to support in-house training sessions. The materials are suitable for all services including older people, children, learning disability, mental health and dementia. This site also has a regular newsletter facility and a forum to post questions.
Access to this site is easy! Before you use it for the first time, email the Care Marketplace team email@example.com and request the 'pre-paid registration number' then;

You will then be asked to enter your own password which you continue to use every time you log onto the site.
Social Care TV E-Learning: The Uk's first Recognised Provider of quality e-learning specifically for health & social care. It is free to register and the site offers training from £3 per person as well as regular free courses.

Dementia Resource for Dom Care: NEW - Skills for care resource 'Better Domiciliary care for People With Dementia'. It has some good tips, useful case studies and is free to download.
Resource to identify equipment and A.T. solutions to support needs: NEW - On-line tool to assist people in recognising what assistive technology there is out there to support them with a particular issue.
The web-site allows a user to select a particular topic they are having difficulty with and then answer a series of questions that result in a person specific report offering equipment and assistive technology (A.T.) suggestions. Web-site. www.asksara.org.uk
Social care Institute for Excellence (SCIE): Do your residents have good and consistent access to a GP, as is their right? Maintaining access to a GP means that social care and health services are more integrated generally and can help in addressing unnecessary hospital admissions.

Care Quality Commission (CQC): The CQC web-site offers lots of support & guidance around meeting regulations. A recent document 'A Fresh Start' offers information on the new regime for registration, inspection and the implementation of a new rating system.

Care Act (NEW): The Skills for Care web-site has a range of information resources to help providers understand and implement their responsibilities under the new Care Act.
Managers Quality Networking Forum (February & September): Twice a year forum for Directors, Owners & managers. The event consists of a variety of sector specific workshops, a networking lunch, opportunity to visit stands and hear from national, regional & locally invited speakers to offer updates on developments within the sector (CQC, Skills for Care, National Skills Academy, Health colleagues, Commissioners, voluntary organisations etc).
Web-page for Activity co-ordinators: A web-page dedicated to Activity Co-ordinators is available on the Carematch web-site. The page provides support, resources, activity ideas, sharing of information and good practice to support the provision of meaningful & purposeful activities. Training opportunities for co-ordinators is also found here.
Staffordshire Provider Network: We host the Staffordshire Provider Network which is held twice a year. Social care providers attend and chair this meeting to discuss various topics affecting the social care sector. Providers advise what they would like to discuss and we invite professionals along to support on these topics. Managers/owners from all types of service are welcome to attend.

Skills for Care - Value Based Recruitment Toolkit: The skills for care web-site have a toolkit to assist managers with recruiting people with the right values and behaviours to undertake such an important role. These social care values - including compassion, dignity, integrity, respect and responsibility are what make the difference in delivery of care and support services.
The Toolkit contains:
- A personality profiling questionnaire for candidates
- The Leadership Qualities Framework as a guide to behaviours and values
- Finders Keepers to help recruit and retain staff
- Easy to access advice and information
- Examples of job ads and interview questions

Free Job advertising via Carematch: Staffordshire CC 'CareMatch' website is managed by the Care Market Development team and has a number of free resources social care organisations can utilise. You can advertise job vacancies free of charge, search a bank of social care job seekers, book places on training courses/events and access relevant on-site resources.

I Care... Ambassadors: We co-ordinate an Employer partnership of I Care... Ambassadors. Ambassadors are people who work in social care services and help to promote recruitment to the sector by sharing their enthusiasm & breaking down negative stereotypes. They support organisations to recruit new staff and market their service. New employers are welcome to join the partnership.

National Skills Academy's (NSA) Mentor Scheme for Managers: NSA is in the process of establishing a mentoring offer specifically for Registered Managers working in residential and domiciliary care as part of a wider suite of targeted offers to this professional group.

Skills for Care Workforce Development Funding (WDF) Provides financial support for QCF accredited training: Staffordshire County Council have a 3 year partnership agreement with Skills for Care, to distribute WDF to private and voluntary (adult) social care services to support the provision of QCF accredited qualifications and short courses for their workers, where there has been a cost to the organisation. WDF is paid out at £15.00 per credit and is a contribution towards the cost of individuals in an organisation achieving relevant QCF qualifications. For e.g. Diploma in Health & Social care is 46 credits x £15 = £690 QCF Dementia Awareness award is 8 credits x £15= £120.
Please note this fund cannot be claimed from more than one partnership.

Once registered, receive payments by sending us verified QCF units/qualifications from the acceptable units list. Current funding is available for workers who have undertaken QCF accredited training, since January 2013 and runs until march 2015.
National Skills Academy's (NSA) Local Network Fund: Funding of up-to £1,500 is currently available to enable groups of managers (6+) to come together and set up a local network group. Any manager can apply for funding to set & run meetings locally to share experiences and good practice, obtain information about new developments in social care, and learn from each other to build expertise, knowledge and leadership confidence.
